Birr Series Publications is an independent Islamic educational publisher based in the United Kingdom. We write, design and produce our own books for children, and for the parents and teachers who work with them.

We began with one book

Our first publication is the Qaidah of Birr Series, a 56-page qaidah that introduces the Arabic alphabet in all of its shapes, its short and long vowels, and the foundations of tajweed. Every word in it is selected from the Holy Quran.

We started there on purpose. A qaidah is the first book a child ever opens, so getting it right mattered to us more than publishing quickly. The letter shapes, the ordering of the lessons, the paper and the binding were all settled before we allowed ourselves to think about a second title.

Where we are going next

The Qaidah is the beginning of a series rather than the whole of it. Over time we intend to publish across other subjects within Islamic education, adding titles one at a time as each one is ready.

We would rather offer a short list of books we stand behind than a long list we do not. If there is a subject you would like to see us cover, we would like to hear about it.

Who we publish for

• Families teaching at home, who need a book a child can follow at their own pace.
• Madrasahs, maktabs and institutes teaching a full class, who need enough copies at a price that works for a school budget.

Every order ships free to any address in the United Kingdom, with no minimum spend. Institutions can register once through our Wholesale Registration page, after which reduced pricing is applied automatically at checkout.
